Many people have voted and are voting for this mid-term election. The Democrats and the Republicans are mercifully trying to galvanize their bases to flood the pools in their favor. This is undoubtedly a very important election in the aspect that the Republicans look to take the House of Representatives back from the Democrats. We constantly see tweets, Facebook statuses, and commercials about voting. I will say this that the getting out and voting mantra has gotten everyone talking about it which is great. But, I sat back the other day and thought about it very deeply and asked myself the question. Do many of us even know what the hell we are voting for?
We all get hyped up by the idea of voting but do we even research the candidate and propositions or do we just listen to what those around us are telling us to vote for. Do we really look at the issues or who do we just vote for whoever Obama, Palin, Limbaugh, or Jon Stewart support? Do we even understand the propositions presented on the ballot or do we just take the voter card and follow directions?
It isn’t hard today to be an informed of what we are voting for we have this magical thing invented by Al Gore (LOL!) called the internet and even better Google. We can look and see what the candidates’ positions on different issues. We can go online and find out what “Proposition ABC” means and how it would affect me. Then we can decipher if the candidates and propositions align with who we are and what we believe in. I understand that the cool thing to do is chanting I am voting but it really is like not voting if you do not know who and what you are voting for.
Many of the world’s leaders take the youth and more over the black vote for granted. We have to directly become a part of this process by voting for what we believe not just in what our parents, TV, Fox News, or CNN say. They cannot deny the power of the youth to go out and have an impact in the vote. But, we have to be an informed voter and not just vote just for the sake of voting. So, when you going out to vote go ahead and research what and who you are voting for and why
My small PSA/Tidbits
- California, please do the damn thing and legalize marijuana. I am not saying it is right or wrong to use it but, you will change the landscape of America. California will develop another revenue stream for America and potentially keep a lot of brothas and sistas out of jail.
-Just because you are Democrat don’t mean you should ride with them…
-Don’t Jump ship on Obama(like many Democrats have) we gave Bush 8 years and two wars to get things together you can give President Obama his due diligence.
-We have to not allow this delusional Tea party make headway in this election (See Here). White Slavery, really??

Damn fam I just wrote a piece on the exact same thing, though mines is more satirical. And how come you haven’t added me to your blog roll yet? The hell man..check out my piece though at

You hit a cord with this one bro,
Looks like I need to do a little bit more research
It’s always a treat to drop in on your blog, you always seem to pick topics to speak on that most people need to hear. Voting is power and left in the wrong hands it can do damage. Thanks for the post and I too hope that voters were voting today b/c they want true change and not b/c it may seem like a “cool” thing to do.
White Slavery…that IS truly laughable!!!
Love this!
Great post! Thanks for always getting the truth out! I can definitely relate and I feel guilty for not researching the candidates and propositions every time I vote…I know that I personally have to do better. I had to read one of the props several times and I still don’t think I understood what it was asking. So wtf?
