Push and Kick: Dear White People…

If you haven’t make sure you check out this week’s episode of the “Straight Outta Lo Cash” Radio Show. This week’s show “Who makes The Best Kool-Aid?” .You can also subscribe to the show on I-Tunes or listen on your Android, I-Phone, I-Pad or Black berry of Stitcher Radio.

As I have talked about previously I am going to use my voice to highlight some great independent projects in film, television,  music, etc. I will not just be highlighting African-American produced films but I do want to support quality projects in general. If you are interested in having your project highlighted in this new segment shoot me an email to fromashy2classy@gmail.com.

In this edition of “Push…Kick” I will be highlighting the indie project Dear White People. It is a satire about black people environment of  mostly white colleges. Being a brotha who attended a predominately white boys Jesuit high school and predominately white Big 12 school this trailer spoke to me a 1000 fold. It is a film written, directed, and produced Justin Simien. The description of the satire per their tumblr page

Remember when Black movies didn’t necessarily star a dude in a fat suit and a wig? Or have major plot twists timed to Gospel numbers for no apparent reason? No? Damn…

Well believe it or not there was a time when “Black Art-House” was a thing. When movies like Do The Right Thing, Hollywood Shuffle, and Boyz In Da Hood were breaking box office records as well as making us laugh, cry, and think in ways movies hadn’t before.

The humble producers of DEAR WHITE PEOPLE, a satire about being a black face in a white place, long to bring those days back. But we can’t do it without you!

We pieced together what resources we had to make this trailer in order to entice investors for our planned million dollar feature. Armed with this trailer and your support we plan to make this film a reality.

Check out the trailer for the project below…

I urge everyone to help support this satire film. You can learn more and donate to their project on Indiegogo (CLICK HERE). And if you can’t financial support it spread the word on this very interesting project. Like I said before “It Aint All Tyler Perry’s Fault” because there are great projects like this one out there worthy of being supported that show different microcosms of the African-American experience.
